Tarique Rahman to campaign in Mymensingh today

BNP chairperson Tarique Rahman is travelling to Mymensingh today, Tuesday, to take part in election campaigning for the first time in 22 years. He is scheduled to address an election rally at 2:00pm at the Circuit House ground in the city. He will also join public rallies in two other districts later in the day.

Tarique Rahman’s visit has generated widespread enthusiasm among party leaders and activists across Mymensingh city and surrounding areas.

BNP leaders hope the rally will turn into one of the largest gatherings in the region’s recent history.

According to party sources, candidates contesting in all 24 parliamentary constituencies of the Mymensingh division with the sheaf of paddy symbol will be introduced together on the same stage. The BNP chairperson will also deliver directive remarks, seeking votes in support of the candidates. The rally will be presided over by Zakir Hossain, convener of BNP Mymensingh South district unit.

On Monday, BNP media cell member Atikur Rahman said the district administration and the returning officer had been informed about Tarique Rahman’s visits to Mymensingh and Gazipur. Requests were also made for permission to hold the rallies and for necessary security arrangements.

During the tour, the BNP chairperson will address rallies at Mymensingh Circuit House ground, Gazipur Rajbari ground and Uttara Azampur Eidgah ground, before returning to his residence in Gulshan later in the day.
