Tarique Rahman to return home within weeks: Dr Zahid

BNP Standing Committee member Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain has said that the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman will return to the country within the next few weeks to lead the final phase of the movement for restoring democracy.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday (September 25) at a programme in the capital’s Zia Udyan marking World Pharmacists Day, Dr Zahid made the remarks.

He said the number of BNP nomination seekers is almost ten times higher than the number of constituencies. Party nominations will be finalized based on local popularity and different survey reports, he added.

“The party has not given a green signal to anyone. Election activities are being carried out in an organized and consistent manner,” Dr. Zahid said.

He further noted that Tarique Rahman is not only a leader of BNP but also of the broader movement to restore democracy.
