Tarique Rahman visits Ziaur Rahman’s grave after 17 years
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has visited the grave of his father, martyred president Ziaur Rahman, at Chandrima Udyan in the capital, marking his first visit in more than 17 years.
He arrived at the mausoleum in Sher-e-Banglanagar at around 4:30pm on Friday, December 26. After performing Jummah prayers, Tarique Rahman left his Gulshan residence at house No 196 for the graveyard.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other senior party leaders accompanied him during the visit.
After ending a 17-year-long exile, Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh on Thursday, December 25. On the same day, BNP organised a reception in his honour on the Purbachal 36 July Expressway.
Following the reception, he went to Evercare Hospital to see his ailing mother, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment there. Later, he returned to his Gulshan residence.
