Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has expressed grave concern over the ongoing Palestine crisis, condemning Israeli settlement expansion and calling for urgent international intervention.

In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page Friday, Rahman said Bangladeshis across the world have always stood by the Palestinian people and shown firm solidarity against colonial oppression.

He described the Israeli government’s plan to expand settlements in the West Bank as “heartbreaking,” warning that such measures would “effectively block the path to establishing an independent Palestinian state.”

Rahman accused the government led by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of attempting to erase Palestinian land, culture, and history — actions he said amounted to “genocide and planned ethnic cleansing.”

Expressing concern for Bangladeshis living and working in the Middle East and Gulf region, Rahman said Israel’s actions were “pushing the entire region into an abyss,” posing risks to their safety and that of their families.

The BNP acting chairman urged the international community to condemn Israel’s settlement expansion and put pressure on its government. He also called on the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to deliver a ruling without delay on what he termed Israel’s “clear genocide in Gaza,” stressing that Palestinians are already enduring “horrific suffering.”
