Teacher killed after being crushed by two buses in Dhaka

A teacher was killed after she fell from a moving motorcycle and was crushed between two buses in Dhaka’s Banasree on Wednesday evening (September 16).

The accident took place around 5:45pm in front of Farazi Hospital in the Banasree area.

The deceased was identified as Taspia Ahmed Tisha, 31, who taught at the Aftabnagar branch of Milestone School and College. She lived in the Meradia Noapara area of Khilgaon and was originally from Professor Para in Chandpur Sadar.

Her brother Enam Ahmed said Taspia had left home on a motorcycle for personal work when she fell onto the road. She was then caught between two buses and died at the scene.

Khilgaon police Sub-Inspector Anoy Chandra Pal said Taspia was crushed between a Ramzan Paribahan bus and another bus in front of Farazi Hospital. Police recovered her body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue around 9pm for an autopsy after completing the initial legal procedures.

Police later seized both buses and detained their drivers and assistants during an immediate operation, the officer said.

Local businessman Md Musa said he found Taspia’s bloodied body lying on the road and informed her relatives. The family said she had been planning to visit Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.

Police said legal proceedings over the incident are underway.
