Teacher remanded for 3 days in Netrokona child rape case
A court in Netrokona has granted a three-day remand for the main accused in a child rape case involving a madrasa teacher in Madan upazila.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Judge Mohsina Islam passed the order on Thursday morning (May 7). Police had sought a seven-day remand, but after a hearing, the court approved a three-day remand.
The accused, madrasa teacher Amanullah Sagar, was arrested earlier during an operation conducted by RAB-14 in the Gouripur area of Mymensingh on Tuesday night (May 5). He was later handed over to Netrokona district police on Wednesday afternoon. That evening, Madan Police Station produced him before the court seeking remand.
According to case documents and local sources, the accused is a resident of Paikshar Bazar village under Kaitail union in Madan upazila. He established the Hazrat Fatematuz Zahra Women’s Qawmi Madrasa in 2022, where he served as both teacher and director.
The case statement says that in November 2025, the accused allegedly raped a child and threatened her with death to prevent disclosure of the incident. He reportedly went into hiding after taking leave on April 18. The victim’s mother filed a case at Madan Police Station on April 23.
Public Prosecutor of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, Advocate Nurul Kabir Rubel, confirmed the court order.
He said the accused had allegedly admitted involvement during preliminary questioning by RAB and police, and investigators expect further details to emerge during the remand period.
