Teachers to get separate pay scale, festival allowance rise: Eduacation Minister
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has proposed a separate pay scale for teachers and announced a 10 percent increase in festival allowance after 17 years.
The minister made the announcements at a views-exchange meeting with centre secretaries of SSC and equivalent examinations at Advocate Tarek Smriti Auditorium in Mymensingh on Monday, April 6.
"A separate pay scale for teachers needs to be introduced, completely different from any other scale. Whether it is higher or lower is not the main issue; the key is its distinctiveness," the minister said.
He also said teachers' festival allowance has not been increased for nearly 17 years. A decision has been taken to increase the allowance by 10 per cent this year, and he expressed hope it would be implemented before Eid-ul-Azha.
Meanwhile, Primary and Mass Education State Minister Bobby Hajjaj said discussions are underway regarding pay scale restructuring for government primary school teachers, alongside improving education quality and infrastructure.
