Technical education crucial for nation’s future: Education Adviser
Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar on Monday stressed the need for expanding technical education across the country, stating that there is "no alternative" to equipping students with science and technology skills in today’s world.
Speaking at a program organized at Jamia Islamia Alim Madrasa in the Gakuldasher Bagh area of Bandar Upazila, the adviser noted that traditional academic qualifications alone are no longer sufficient for employment in an increasingly competitive global market.
“There is a general reluctance towards technical education in our society, while job opportunities are narrowing,” said Dr. Abrar. “However, the demand for technically skilled individuals is growing both at home and abroad. Parents must recognize that the future of their children lies in this field.”
He emphasized the need to align technical education with the demands of both domestic and international job markets and called on the government to give special attention to this sector. “We must design programs that produce skilled graduates who are ready for global challenges,” he said.
Reflecting on the historical importance of the month, Dr. Abrar described July as a symbol of national pride. “The student movement in July brought us liberation. Today, we have a brief opportunity to shape the Bangladesh they dreamed of,” he added.
He urged all educational institutions to organize commemorative events during July to honor the sacrifices of the martyrs. “We must remember those who were involved in the movement, thank them, and support those who were injured. If the state is unable to assist fully, society must extend a helping hand to their families,” he concluded.
