Teen dies of electrocution while removing Argentina flag in Naogaon

A teenage boy died after being electrocuted while trying to take down an Argentina flag from a tree in Manda upazila of Naogaon on Saturday evening (August 8).

The incident took place around 6:45pm in Tetulia Eastpara village under Tetulia Union.

The deceased was identified as Mosharraf Hossain, 16, son of Nur Islam of the same village. He worked as an assistant to a Thai-glass installer at a shop.

According to local residents, Mosharraf climbed the tree beside a shop in a nearby market to remove an Argentina flag that had been hung there. While doing so, he came into contact with an overhead power line running close to the tree and suffered an electric shock.

Locals rescued him and rushed him to a hospital, but he died while undergoing treatment, according to his family.

Manda Police Station Officer-in-Charge said police had received information that the teenager died after coming into contact with a power line while climbing the tree.

The officer said the incident would be investigated and necessary legal action would be taken.
