Teen gang leader killed in Mohammadpur clash, 3 arrested

Iman alias Alex Iman, the leader of the 'Alex Group' teen gang, was killed in a clash between two groups over supremacy in the Rayerbagh Budhhijibi area of Mohammadpur, capital. Police have arrested three people in connection with the incident.

The clash took place around 4:30 pm on Sunday, April 12, on the slope of the Rayerbagh Budhhijibi embankment road. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Tejgaon Division Jewel Rana confirmed the matter.

Police said the clash erupted between two groups over establishing dominance. Iman was critically injured. He was taken to the emergency department of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where he died under treatment.

Immediately after the incident, members of the Rayerbagh police outpost conducted an operation and arrested three individuals from the scene. The arrestees are Md Saif, 23; Tuhin, 20; and Md Rabbi Kazi, 25. They are all members of Iman's rival group. Three large knives, a cutter and a steel plate were recovered from them.

Assistant Police Commissioner (AC) of Mohammadpur Zone Abdullah Al Mamun said the deceased, Iman, was a identified teen gang leader in the Rayerbagh area and led the 'Alex Group'. Several cases, including for robbery and murder, were pending against him.

According to local sources, a long-standing dispute over dominance has been ongoing between the Alex Iman group and the Arman-Shahrukh group in the Rayerbagh area. Following this, a clash erupted between the two sides on Sunday afternoon, which later turned fatal.

CCTV footage of the incident shows Iman falling to the ground during a chase and counter-chase between the two sides. He was then critically injured in an attack by the rival group. His body is currently at the hospital morgue.
