Teen girl gang-raped by group after facebook meet-up, 4 arrested

A teen girl was allegedly gang-raped while meeting on Facebook in Bhaluka, Mymensingh. Police have arrested four people in the incident. They later gave confessional statements in court.

Mymensingh Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Abdullah Al Mamun said that when the four arrested were handed over to the court on Tuesday, they gave statements under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Two of them have been sent to prison and two to a juvenile correctional facility. A total of five people have been mentioned in the case. However, the person with whom the teen went to Bhaluka due to a relationship on Facebook has not yet been arrested. A drive is underway to catch him.

Police said that the incident took place in Bhaluka on the night of March 14. The 14-year-old victim is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

It is learned that the teen's home is in Narayanganj. After the death of her parents, she was raised by her stepmother for a long time. About two months ago, she left home due to her stepmother's torture and moved to Mymensingh and started working as a doctor's assistant in a private diagnostic center.

Police also said that the girl had been in a relationship with a man named 'Zisan Islam' on Facebook for six months. To meet him, the girl went to Bhaluka bus stand by bus from Mymensingh on the night of March 14. There, a young man took her in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw. When the girl became suspicious, she refused to go. Later, she was taken to a secluded place and gang-raped. Later, the girl was left on the bank of a canal. With the help of local residents, the police of Bhaluka Model Police Station rescued the victim and admitted her to the hospital.
