A teenage boy was killed in a violent clash stemming from a prior dispute in Hariyakhali area under Subrang Union in Teknaf. Police have arrested one suspect in connection with the incident on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Ibrahim, 15, son of Shamsul Alam of Hariyakhali village. His body was recovered and sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

According to police and local sources, the incident occurred on the evening of May 28, around 6pm, when three individuals—Omar Faruk, Md. Tayeeb, and Md. Shafiq—were travelling by autorickshaw toward Shah Porir Dwip. On their way, they were allegedly intercepted at Hariyakhali Bridge by a group including Raju, Robiul, and 5–7 unidentified individuals.

A physical altercation broke out between the two sides. Although Omar Faruk, Shafiq, and Tayeeb initially left the scene, the opposing group reportedly later attacked Omar Faruk’s residence. During the attack, Ibrahim was critically injured after being struck by thrown stones.

He was taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, but died on the way.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge Md. Saiful Islam of Teknaf Model Police Station said that one person has been arrested in connection with the clash and investigations are ongoing.
