Teenage auto-rickshaw driver found dead in Bogura pond, police search for vehicle
Fifteen-year-old Abdur Rahman left home in the afternoon with his auto-rickshaw but never returned, even after the night had passed. The following day, his body was recovered from a pond in Sonatala, Bogura. Police initially suspect that he was strangled to death.
Police recovered Abdur Rahman’s body from a pond in Lohagara Nayapara village along the Velurpara-College Station Road in Sonatala upazila around noon on Wednesday (September 16). He had left home with his auto-rickshaw on Tuesday afternoon.
Abdur Rahman was a resident of Goalpara village in Gabtali upazila of Bogura. His father is Amirul Islam. The 15-year-old worked as an auto-rickshaw driver.
Kabir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sonatala Police Station, said the body was sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SHJMEC) Hospital in Bogura for an autopsy. Police initially suspect that he was strangled, but the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report is received.
The OC also said Abdur Rahman’s auto-rickshaw has not yet been recovered. Police are conducting operations to identify and detain those involved in the killing and to recover the vehicle.
Police said the victim’s family is preparing to file a case in connection with the incident.
