Teenage girl murdered after rejecting immoral proposal: RAB

In South Banshree, Dhaka, a restaurant owner’s daughter, Fatema Akter Lily, 17, was murdered by employee Milon Mallik after she refused his immoral proposal, according to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

RAB-3 commander Lieutenant Colonel Faizul Arefin briefed reporters on Monday, January 12, at a press conference in Karwan Bazar.

Milon was previously arrested in Bagerhat. RAB identified him as the perpetrator after analysing CCTV footage and using digital forensics.

Lieutenant Colonel Arefin said Milon admitted to the crime during preliminary questioning. He explained that when Fatema’s family left her in Dhaka and went to their village in Habiganj, Milon attempted to coerce her at home. After she refused, he attacked her with a sharp knife on Saturday afternoon, killing her.

RAB also reported that Milon had prior drug-related cases.

Fatema’s body was recovered from Preetam Villa in South Banshree on January 10, following a 999 call to the police.
