Teenage madrasa student found hanging in Ukhia

A 17-year-old madrasa student has died under mysterious circumstances in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar. The body of Golap Sha Akter, a tenth-grade student of Rumpalong Islamia Alim Madrasa, was found hanging at her home in Charpara village of Jaliapalong union on Thursday morning, May 14.

When family members called her to get ready for madrasa and received no response, they broke open the door and found her hanging, according to family sources. Locals helped bring her down.

Local union parishad member Mohammad Hossain Sikder confirmed the matter. The family claims it was a suicide, but whether the incident is a murder or suicide cannot be confirmed before investigation, he said.

Ukhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mujibur Rahman said the body has been sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Necessary legal action will be taken after investigation.

Golap Sha was the daughter of the second wife of her father, Said Mistry, a resident of Charpara village.
