Teenage worker dies of electrocution in Aftabnagar

A teenage worker named Md Niham (15) died of electrocution while doing sanitary work at an under-construction building in Aftabnagar, Badda, in the capital.

The accident occurred on the eighth floor of an under-construction building in F Block of Aftabnagar around 11am on Monday, September 21.

Niham was the son of Chan Mia Gazi of North Nanupur Miaji Bari village in Chandpur Sadar upazila. He lived with his family in the Passport Office area of F-Block in Aftabnagar, Badda. Niham was the younger of two brothers.

Niham's colleague Al-Amin said they were working on the sanitary work on the eighth floor of the building. At one point during work, he went downstairs. When he returned after a while, he saw colleagues bringing Niham down in an unconscious state. He learned from them that Niham suddenly lost consciousness after being electrocuted while working.

Later, colleagues rescued him in an unconscious state and took him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital. Doctors declared Niham dead around noon.

Inspector Habibur Rahman, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said Niham's body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy. The matter has been reported to the concerned police station.
