A teenage boy was beaten to death in Pabna’s Aminpur upazila after a dispute over a cow entering a neighbor’s paddy field and eating crops. The assailants had earlier assaulted the boy’s mother over the same issue.

The incident occurred late Tuesday night (June 17) in Ramkantapur village under Aminpur Police Station.

The deceased was identified as Md. Ashik Mondal, 17, son of Md. Hontesh Mondal from the same village.

According to police and local sources, a cow belonging to Ashik’s family reportedly entered the field of neighbor Arof Mridha on Tuesday afternoon and damaged some paddy crops. In reaction, Arof allegedly assaulted Ashik’s mother. After returning home and learning about the incident, Ashik went to the neighbor’s house to apologize on his mother’s behalf. However, instead of resolving the issue, Arof and several others reportedly beat Ashik severely, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rushed Ashik to Kashinathpur Health Center, and later to Pabna General Hospital. As his condition worsened, he was being transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way around 1:00 a.m.

Locals rescued him and first took him to Kashinathpur Health Center, then to Pabna General Hospital. As his condition worsened, he was being transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital but died around 1 a.m. during the journey.

Golam Mostafa, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Aminpur Police Station, said, "A complaint has been filed naming six individuals in connection with Ashik's beating and death. The body has been sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police are conducting operations to arrest the accused."
