Teenager held for raping woman in Noakhali

Locals have captured a teenager on charges of entering a house and raping a young woman in Kabirhat Upazila of Noakhali and handed him over to the police.

The incident took place at 12:30am on Tuesday.

Police shown the accused Arafat,18, arrested on Tuesday afternoon and produced him before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court in a case filed by the victim under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. After the hearing, the court ordered him to be sent to prison.

According to locals, the young woman was married two years ago but lived in her father's house as her husband separated. Recently, her neighbor Arafat Islam had been harassing her regularly.

The complaint said that late on Monday night, Arafat came to the house and forced the young woman to open the door. When she opened the door, he entered the house and raped her. Hearing the girl's screams, the family members came and captured Arafat and later handed him over to the police.
