Teenager killed in mortar shell explosion at Naikshongchhari border

A teenager named was killed in a mortar shell explosion in the Naikshongchhari border area of ​​Bandarban.

The incident took place near the zero line of the border on Tuesday afternoon.

Upazila Executive Officer Enamul Hasan confirmed the matter. He said that the explosion occurred between 1:15 pm and 1:30 pm.

According to the administration, deceased Satnaim Tanchanga is approximately 15 years old. After verifying his identity, it was found that he is a Myanmar citizen and his permanent address is in Myanmar. However, he lived in the border area.

The UNO said that the incident site is located about 10 yards inside Myanmar from the zero line of the Bangladesh-Myanmar border. The teenager died in the mortar shell explosion there.

No final decision has been made yet on what action will be taken regarding the body of the deceased. According to the local administration, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the law enforcement agencies concerned will take necessary decisions in this regard considering the border situation.

Alertness has been increased in the border area after the incident. However, there are no official details yet on the source of the explosion, where the mortar shell came from, and whether the incident is linked to an ongoing conflict.
