Teen's body found hanging from Shaheed Minar day after disappearance

Police have recovered the hanging body of a teenager named Sihab Hossain, 15, from a Shaheed Minar in Manikganj Sadar upazila. The body was recovered on Sunday, August 9, from the Jagir area of the upazila.

Sihab Hossain was the son of Selim Mia from Hijuli village in Sadar upazila. He worked as an employee at a fish shop in Manikganj Bus Stand's fish market. Instead of living with his family, he stayed at a local person's house with his grandfather.

Police and local sources said Sihab had been missing since Saturday night. Around 7am on Sunday, locals spotted his hanging body at the Shaheed Minar in a field beside the Jagir area. Police were informed and recovered the body around 9am.

Police sent the body to Manikganj Medical College morgue for autopsy.

Monir Hossain, the fish trader who owned Sihab's workplace, said Sihab worked as an employee at his shop. He had taken leave on Saturday and did not come to work that day.

Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Monir Hossain confirmed the incident.

He said the cause of the teenager's death could not be immediately determined. The cause of death and whether anyone else was involved in the incident are being investigated through the autopsy report and investigation.
