Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the Teesta master plan will be implemented at any cost, through which new horizons of development will open for the people of the Teesta region.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at the 'Alokito Lalmonirhat' mass awakening programme at the MT Hossain ground in Lalmonirhat town on Saturday afternoon, July 4.

Fakhrul said the 'Jago Bahe Teesta Bachai' movement is on the path to success. Through the implementation of this master plan, the long-standing expectations of the people of the Teesta region will be fulfilled, creating new possibilities for development in the area.

He said despite 17 years of struggle, persecution and imprisonment against fascism, they never bowed their heads. Through that movement, the opportunity to build a new Bangladesh has been created.

The minister said society and the youth are being harmed by the aggression of drugs. To overcome this situation, people must be made aware and social resistance must be built. A nationwide social movement must be formed against drugs, gambling and dowry.

Referring to various government development programmes, Fakhrul said work is underway to build an economically prosperous Bangladesh through initiatives such as family cards, farmer cards and allowances for imams and muazzins.

At the event, Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu presented the keynote paper of 'Alokito Lalmonirhat'. After the discussion, a procession with ministers, MPs and local leaders paraded through the town.
