Dhaka’s Farmgate intersection reopened around 12:40pm on Thursday after Tejgaon College students ended a two-hour road blockade in protest over the death of a fellow student.

The protest began at 10:20am following the death of a student Sakibul Hasan Rana, 18, who was injured in a clash between two groups at the college hostel.

The blockade caused severe traffic congestion, with hundreds of students demonstrating by burning tires and chanting slogans demanding justice for Rana.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Fazlul Rahman of Tejgaon police said a case has been filed regarding Rana’s death. "After authorities assured that those responsible would be arrested, the students vacated the road, allowing traffic to return to normal," he added.
