Temperature likely to drop in Dhaka, light rain expected

The temperature in Dhaka and surrounding areas may drop slightly today, with chances of light rain, according to the Meteorological Department.

In its six-hour forecast from 7.00am Wednesday, the storm warning center of the department said the sky over Dhaka and nearby areas may remain partly cloudy to cloudy. Light rain is also expected during the day. Winds from the south and southeast may blow at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour, while the temperature could decrease slightly.

According to the weather office, Dhaka’s temperature at 6.00am today was 28°C with 83 percent humidity. Yesterday, the maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 34.8°C, while today’s minimum was 27.7°C. In the last 24 hours, Dhaka recorded 2 millimeters of rainfall.

Meanwhile, the nationwide forecast issued yesterday said that by 6.00pm today, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds may occur in some parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, and in a few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions. Moderate to heavy rainfall may also occur in some areas. Day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
