After a recent accident that claimed a life of a banker, the Forest Department temporarily banned entry of tourists to Khoiyachora waterfall in Chattogram’s Mirsarai upazila. Ashraful Alam, forest ranger of the Baraiyadhala range, issued the closure order on Saturday as a precautionary measure due to adverse weather conditions and ongoing renovation work in the area. “We urge tourists to book a guide for visiting other waterfalls in the region,” Alam said, highlighting the abundance of waterfalls in the Mirsarai and Sitakunda hilly areas, popular tourist destinations especially during the monsoon. Hundreds of tourists visit these scenic spots daily, but the closure aims to prevent further accidents and ensure visitors’ safety.

চট্টগ্রামের মীরসরাইয়ের খৈয়াছড়া ঝরনায় পর্যটকদের প্রবেশ সাময়িকভাবে বন্ধ ঘোষণা করেছে বন বিভাগ। প্রতিকূল আবহাওয়া এবং এলাকায় চলমান সংস্কার কাজের কারণে সতর্কতামূলক ব্যবস্থা হিসেবে শনিবার (২৮ সেপ্টেম্বর) এই বন্ধের আদেশ জারি করেন চট্টগ্রাম উত্তর বন-বিভাগের বারৈয়াঢালা রেঞ্জের রেঞ্জ কর্মকর্তা আশরাফুল আলম। তিনি বলেন, আমরা পর্যটকদেরকে এই অঞ্চলের অন্য ঝরনাগুলো দেখার জন্য একটি গাইড বুক করার আহ্বান জানিয়েছি। মিরসরাই ও সীতাকুণ্ড পাহাড়ি এলাকায় অনেকগুলো জলপ্রপাত রয়েছে। বিশেষ করে বর্ষাকালে এই ঝরনাগুলো পর্যটকদের জন্য জনপ্রিয় পর্যটন গন্তব্যস্থল হয়ে ওঠে। এর ফলে বর্ষা মৌসুমে এই মনোরম স্পট পরিদর্শনে প্রতিদিন আসেন শত শত পর্যটক। তবে সাময়িকভাবে পর্যটকদের প্রবেশ নিষিদ্ধের&nbsp;কারণ হিসেবে জানা গেছে, আরও দুর্ঘটনা রোধে এবং দর্শকদের নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিতকরণে লক্ষ্যে এ উদ্যোগ নেয়া হয়েছে। এর আগে শুক্রবার (২৭ সেপ্টম্বর) খৈয়াছড়া ঝরনায় পাথর পড়ে এক ব্যাংক কর্মকর্তার মৃত্যু হয়।
