Thakurgaon to get medical college, decision finalised: Mirza Fakhrul

A decision to establish a medical college in Thakurgaon has been finalised, said BNP Secretary General and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

He shared the information while speaking to journalists after visiting Thakurgaon General Hospital at 9 am on Sunday, March 1.

"We have visited Thakurgaon General Hospital. Hospital officials and staff were present during the visit. We found the hospital clean and are considering whether it can be further improved," he said.

Mirza Fakhrul said, "As you all know, a decision has been made to establish a medical college here. The land has also been finalised. We hope healthcare will further improve with the medical college. Once the medical college is established, the 250-bed hospital will be upgraded to 500 beds so that local people receive healthcare services. We will always remain vigilant."

The local government minister said, "I have told the hospital super to inform us of whatever is needed to improve healthcare services, and we will arrange it from the government accordingly. Additionally, another lift will be arranged for the hospital from the district administration."

Mirza Fakhrul said, "I request the officials, including the civil surgeon, to work with our limited resources to ensure the healthcare system in this district improves and ordinary people receive good treatment. Those who have been working at the hospital for a long time are also being considered. Action will be taken very soon."
