The person wearing a red shirt did not beat up Nur: Rashed
Gono Odhikar Parishad General Secretary Md. Rashed Khan said that the person wearing a red shirt, who went viral on Facebook last night, did not beat up Nurul Haque Nur.
He said: "In the viral video, the person wearing off white panjabi, was not Nur. He was student leader Samrat. There is no scope to legitimize the attack on Nurul Haque Nur and other leaders and activists by blaming the person wearing a red shirt."
Rashed Khan said this in a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday (August 30).
He said: "Those from the army who attacked Nurul Haque Nur must be brought to justice. The army even entered our office and broke into the bathroom and hit numerous leaders and activists."
A clash ensued between the leaders and activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad and Jatiya Party in the capital's Kakrail area on Friday (August 29) night. When the police and army members charged baton on them to control the situation, at least four people, including the President of Gono Odhikar Parishad, Nurul Haque Nur, and General Secretary Md. Rashed, were injured.
After the incident, a video circulating on social media showed a man wearing a red shirt beating someone severely. Many people commented and claimed that he was beating up Nurul Haque Nur. However, Rashed Khan clarified that the person being beaten in the video was not Nur, but student leader Samrat.
