Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, has said that there is no alternative to improve the law and order situation in the country ahead of the upcoming national elections.

Speaking at a view-exchange meeting with government officials, journalists, and civil society members at the Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner's Office on Saturday (July 12), he stated, "The situation will be brought under control at any cost, and no one involved in criminal activities will be spared."

Referring to the recent murder of a businessman in Dhaka, Majumder noted that law enforcement had acted swiftly, arresting four suspects, and assured that investigations are progressing.

He also said the Chief Adviser has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs and the police to take strict action against criminals, with clear instructions of zero tolerance going forward.

Addressing media safety, Majumder said that steps have been taken to ensure a safer environment for journalists during election coverage. He added that all Digital Security Act cases have been withdrawn, and in the newly introduced Cyber Security Act, all sections—except those related to hacking—have been made bailable.

The meeting was attended by Senior Assistant Press Secretary Faiz Ahmed, Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi, ADC (General) of Rajshahi Mirza Imam Uddin, along with other officials and media representatives.
