Those denied nomination should have faith, party will honour them: Mirza Fakhrul
Ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary election, BNP has announced a preliminary list of potential candidates for 237 constituencies. Since the release of the list, supporters of leaders denied nominations have staged road blockades and protests in various areas. In this context, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged party workers and supporters to remain calm.
He assured, “Those who did not receive nominations should have faith—Inshaa’Allah the party will assign you proper responsibilities and honour you.”
On Tuesday, November 4, Fakhrul shared this appeal in a post on his verified Facebook page.
In the post, he wrote, “By the grace of Almighty Allah, BNP has nominated me for Thakurgaon-1. I am grateful to Begum Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman and all party leaders. I sincerely thank every party worker for standing by me throughout my life.”
Reflecting on his long political journey, Fakhrul added, “Those of us who have spent our lives in politics, gone to jail, all have our stories. In 1987, when I decided to return to politics, my daughters were very young, my wife was young too. She was initially stunned, unsure what dangerous uncertainties lay ahead.”
He continued, “She took my daughters to school and the doctor. I remember the night of my elder daughter’s operation, I was on the road to Dhaka by car to be by her side. At that time, I was in a mosque while her surgery was underway.”
Fakhrul concluded, “This election will be my last. Those denied nominations, have faith—Insha’Allah the party will honour you. Pray for me, and for every leader and worker of our party. We will stand by you all, Inshaa’Allah.”
