M Khurshid Hossain, Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) has said those trying to obstruct voters from casting ballots will be resisted. Noting that voting is a constitutional right, he said alongside other law enforcing agencies, the elite force will perform their duties in a coordinated way to ensure smooth movement of voters to the polling centers. He said this while speaking at a press briefing held at Khulna Rab-6 office on Tuesday (January 02, 2024). Rab will remain in the field before and after the polling day to maintain law and order situation stable, he added. Besides, Rab is closely monitoring the situation to prevent any kind of sabotage or violence centering the election, said the Rab DG.

যারা ভোটারদের ভোট দিতে বাধা দেয়ার চেষ্টা করবে, তাদের প্রতিহত করার ঘোষণা দিয়েছেন র‌্যাপিড অ্যাকশন ব্যাটালিয়নের (র‌্যাব) মহাপরিচালক (ডিজি) এম খুরশীদ হোসেন। মঙ্গলবার (২ জানুয়ারি) খুলনা র‌্যাব-৬ কার্যালয়ে আয়োজিত এক সংবাদ সম্মেলনে মহাপরিচালক এ কথা বলেন। এ সময় তিনি বলেন, ভোটকেন্দ্রে ভোটারদের নির্বিঘ্ন চলাচল নিশ্চিত করতে আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর পাশাপাশি এলিট ফোর্সও সমন্বিতভাবে দায়িত্ব পালন করবে। আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষায় নির্বাচনের আগে, নির্বাচনের দিন ও পরে র‌্যাব মাঠে থাকবে। এ ছাড়া নির্বাচনকে কেন্দ্র করে যে কোনো ধরনের নাশকতা বা সহিংসতা রোধে র‌্যাব পরিস্থিতি নিবিড়ভাবে পর্যবেক্ষণ করছে বলেও জানান র‌্যাব মহাপরিচালক।
