Thousands gather at BNP's rally venue in Sylhet since midnight

The campaign for the 13th National Parliament elections is starting today (January 22). BNP will launch its campaign from the holy land of Sylhet.

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will address a rally at the Sylhet Government Alia Madrasa ground in the city at 11 am today.

Thousands of BNP leaders and activists have gathered at the rally venue since midnight on Wednesday, ignoring the cold.

To keep the leaders and activists present in good spirits, leaders of various BNP organizations are seen giving speeches on the stage.

Leaders and activists from various upazilas of Sylhet and Sunamganj were seen coming in buses since Thursday morning.

The slogans of the leaders and activists scattered in the city in parts show the election mood on a cold morning.

Emran Ahmed Chowdhury, the party candidate for Sylhet-6 constituency and district BNP general secretary, said that the leaders and activists have taken their positions in the field 8-10 hours ago, ignoring the cold. This is because of their love for BNP and Tarique Rahman.

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will address the public rally as the chief guest.

The public rally will be presided over by Sylhet District BNP President Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, and the party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will be the special guest.

After finishing the public meeting in Sylhet, Tarique Rahman will return to Dhaka by road. On the way back, he is scheduled to address public meetings in Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Kishoreganj, Brahmanbaria, Narsingdi and Narayanganj.

Tarique Rahman arrived at Sylhet's Osmani Airport from Dhaka at 8 pm on Wednesday to start his unofficial election campaign.

Then, he paid a visit to the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shahparan (RA) and the grave of MAG Osmani that night.

After the visit, Tarique Rahman went to his in-laws' house in Birahimpur village of South Surma of Sylhet at midnight.

A prayer meeting was held there to seek the prayers for Khaleda Zia's soul. He stayed at the Grand Hotel in the middle of the night.
