Three arrested over gang rape of teenage girl in Ashulia

A teenage girl was allegedly subjected to gang rape after being lured to a meeting in Ashulia by a young man with whom she reportedly had a romantic relationship.

Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the incident, while another accused remains absconding.

According to police and local sources, the victim had been in a relationship with one of the accused, identified as Momin Sheikh, for some time. On Saturday morning, Momin allegedly asked the girl to meet him in the Jamgora area of Ashulia.

Investigators said that after arriving at the location, the girl was taken to a rented house near Jamgora Government Primary School. There, she was allegedly confined against her will and sexually assaulted by Momin and several of his associates.

Following the incident, the victim filed a complaint with police. Based on her allegations, law enforcement launched an operation and arrested three suspects.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Momin Sheikh, 18, Sifat, 18, and Suman Sheikh, 18. Another accused, Jakir Hossain, remains at large.

Mohammad Rasheduzzaman, in-charge of the Jamgora Police Outpost under Ashulia Police Station, said a case has been filed based on the victim’s complaint. The three arrested suspects have been produced before a court, while investigations into the incident are underway.

Police officials said operations are ongoing to arrest the remaining accused and complete the investigation.
