Three election officials withdrawn over duplicate vote in Shreepur
The Election Commission has withdrawn three election officials after a female voter discovered that her ballot had already been cast while she was waiting in line at a polling centre in Gazipur-3 (Shreepur and part of Gazipur Sadar).
The incident took place around 10:30am at Shreepur Pilot Government Girls’ High School polling centre on Thursday (February 12).
Assistant Returning Officer and Shreepur Upazila Executive Officer Shojib Ahmed confirmed the action around 12:30pm.
The officials withdrawn include Assistant Presiding Officer Haresa Khatun and polling agents Masum Khan and Salma Akter.
According to witnesses, voter Laki Begum waited nearly an hour in line before discovering her vote had already been cast. Presiding Officer Md Selim Hossain said disciplinary action had been taken and an investigation is underway.
Shojib Ahmed added that the voter’s ballot was recorded after verification.
