Three flights unable to land at Shah Amanat due to heavy rain
Three flights of different airlines were unable to land at Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport on Tuesday, July 7, due to extremely heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions.
Airport Public Relations Officer Ibrahim Khalil confirmed the matter, saying two international flights and one domestic flight could not land due to the rain.
Among the three, US-Bangla flight BS 350 from Abu Dhabi and Air Arabia flight G9-526 from Sharjah were diverted to Dhaka. Additionally, Biman Bangladesh flight BG 121 on the domestic Dhaka-Chattogram route returned to Dhaka.
Rain that began on Sunday morning turned into extremely heavy downpours on Monday. After continuous rain throughout Monday, it has been pouring across the city from Monday night through Tuesday.
Patengha Met Office said 386.8 millimetres of rainfall was recorded in the 24 hours until 12:00 pm on Tuesday. The heavy rain has caused waterlogging in several areas of Chattogram, including Agrabad commercial area, CDA residential area, Katalganj, Panchlaish, Kapasgola, Chawkbazar, Halishahar K and L blocks, Rampur, Tin Poler Matha and Batali Road.
