Three held for reportedly raping woman after tying up husband in Shariatpur
Three individuals have been detained in Shariatpur's Naria upazila over allegations of raping a housewife after tying up her husband.
The three were detained early on Tuesday (July 28) from the Achura area of Bhojeshwar Union.
The detained individuals are Rabbi Bepari (28), Hazrat Ali Khondkar (42) and Imon Khondkar (26) of the Achura area.
According to the victim and police sources, on Monday night, Hazrat Ali Khondkar called the victim's husband, Rajib Ahammed Khan, to a location where he was reportedly tied up. The victim was then called to the spot and allegedly raped by two individuals while her husband was held captive.
Police visited the scene and sent the victim to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital for a medical examination. The three were detained based on the complaint.
Preliminary investigations suggest the incident may have been linked to an alleged extramarital affair between the victim's husband and the wife of the accused, Hazrat Ali Khondkar. However, this remains under investigation.
Naria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bahar Miah said two individuals have been detained on charges of rape and a third for complicity. The incident is under investigation, and legal action will follow.
