Three killed as bus rams motorcycle in Faridpur

Three young men were killed after a passenger bus rammed over their motorcycle in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur.

The accident occurred in the Naopara area along the Faridpur-Bhanga-Barishal highway on Saturday evening (August 29).

The deceased were identified as Choyon Molla, 20, son of Enayet Molla; Noyon, 20, son of Dalil Uddin; and Siam alias Sajib, 22, son of Azgar Sheikh. All three were from Hasanhati village in Laskardia union of Nagarkanda upazila.

Locals said several people were having tea near Naopara bus stand when they heard a loud crash and saw the bus and motorcycle collide. The three motorcycle riders were thrown onto the road.

Locals rushed them to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared one dead.

The other two, who were critically injured, were referred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital and later died while being taken to Dhaka.

Emergency department physician Aktar Hossain confirmed that one victim was declared dead at the health complex, while the other two later succumbed to their injuries.

Helal Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhanga Highway Police Station, said, "An unidentified bus rammed over the victims motocycle. Police recovered the motorcycle and took it to the station."

Legal action will be taken in connection with the accident, he added.
