Three killed as speeding truck crashes into lorry in Bogura

Three people were killed and three others injured after a speeding truck slammed into a lorry that had broken down on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Bogura on Sunday morning (August 9).

The crash took place at around 7:45am in the Chilimpur area, according to police. One of the injured was in critical condition.

The identities of the three deceased could not immediately be established.

Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kundarhat Highway Police Station, said, "The truck had stopped on the highway after developing a mechanical fault. The driver and his assistants were working to repair the vehicle when another truck approaching from behind lost control and crashed into it at high speed."

"The impact killed three people at the scene," he added.

Police believe the victims were among those working on the disabled truck when the collision occurred.

Highway police and firefighters rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the crash and began rescue operations.

Police are working to identify the bodies and have launched a preliminary investigation into the cause of the accident.
