Three killed as truck hits auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh
Three people, including two women, were killed and two others injured when a truck hit a battery-operated auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh. The accident occurred around 11:30am on Tuesday on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj road in front of a truck depot near the Shambhuganj Rural Electricity Office.
Police said the deceased include a man aged around 30 to 35 years and two women aged between 25 and 35. Their identities have not yet been confirmed.
According to police and local sources, the battery-operated auto-rickshaw was heading from Shambhuganj towards Kishoreganj. A truck suddenly emerged from the depot and struck the auto-rickshaw with great force, killing one man on the spot. Three others, including the auto-rickshaw driver, were critically injured. Locals rescued them and took them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared the two women dead.
Meanwhile, the auto-rickshaw driver fled the hospital after receiving first aid, sources said.
Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police Station SI Khalid said one body was recovered from the scene and the two women's bodies are at the hospital morgue.
