Three killed as truck rams motorcycle in Bagerhat

At least three people were killed after a truck rammed into a motorcycle in Bagerhat.

The accident took place around 9:30am in the Bhatt Balighata area of Chulkathi on the Khulna–Mongla highway on Wednesday (May 20).

Police said the motorcycle, carrying three riders, was heading towards Khulna from Mongla when it hit in front with an oncoming truck. The impact threw the vehicle under the truck, killing one rider on the spot.

The remaining two injured passengers were later rescued by Fire Service personnel and taken to Bagerhat District Hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

The deceased include motorcycle rider Abdul Kader, a resident of Jaria Bhabona village in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat. Identities of the other two victims were not immediately confirmed.

Doctors at Bagerhat 250-bed District Hospital confirmed that the two unidentified victims were brought in dead.

Officials said further identification efforts are ongoing.

Md. Zafar Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kachkatai Highway Police Station, said, "The bodies have been recovered and legal procedures are underway."
