Three killed as truck rams over motorcycle in Dinajpur

A tragic road accident involving a truck and a motorcycle in Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur claimed the lives of at least three people.

The accident took place around 9:00am in the Raniganj Bazar area along the Dinajpur–Gobindaganj highway on Saturday (May 23), according to law enforcement officials.

The deceased were identified as Kayum Mia, 20, son of Shams Uddin of Afsharabd Colony in Ghoraghat; Sayed, 15, son of Salim Uddin of Moglishpur; and Alamim, 15, son of Mosharraf Hossain of the Nurpur area.

Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ghoraghat Police Station, confirmed the incident.

According to police and local sources, three people were riding on a single motorcycle when it attempted to enter the highway at Raniganj Bazar. At that time, a truck coming from Dinajpur rammed into the motorcycle, killing all three riders on the spot.

Police recovered the bodies from the scene and seized the truck involved in the collision. The truck’s helper has been detained, and legal proceedings are underway, officials added.
