Three killed in head-on collision between two motorcycles in Gopalganj
Three young men were killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in Gopalganj. The accident occurred late on Friday night (July 24) on the Gopalganj-Tekerhat regional highway in front of Chamta Bedepalli under Gopalganj Sadar upazila.
The deceased have been identified as Achintya Kundu (25), son of Asit Kundu from the Sindayaghat area of Muksudpur upazila; Ujjwal Barai (35), son of Monindranath Barai from East Nagardi village in Rajair upazila, Madaripur; and Faisal Bepari (20), son of Shahin Bepari from Goalkandi village in the same upazila.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Shamim Al Mamun of the Baultali Police Investigation Centre under Gopalganj Sadar Police Station said Achintya Kundu and Ujjwal Barai were coming towards Gopalganj on a motorcycle. At that time, their motorcycle collided head-on with another motorcycle heading towards Tekerhat from the opposite direction. Achintya Kundu died on the spot, while Ujjwal Barai and Faisal Bepari were critically injured.
Upon receiving the news, police from the Baultali Investigation Centre rushed to the scene, recovered the bodies and admitted the injured to Rajair Upazila Health Complex. Faisal Bepari was later referred to Dhaka for advanced treatment but died on the way. Meanwhile, Ujjwal Barai also died at Rajair Health Complex while undergoing treatment.
SI Shamim Al Mamun further said the three bodies were handed over to their families after autopsies on Saturday.
