Three killed in road crash in Moulvibazar

Three people, including a driver, were killed in a head-on collision between a pickup van and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Moulvibazar.

The accident took place around 1:15am on the Dhaka–Sylhet regional highway near Shahpur Cinema Hall on Saturday (February 21).

The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.

According to police and local sources, the auto-rickshaw was crushed after colliding head-on with an oncoming pickup van, leaving two passengers dead on the spot. Another injured victim was rescued and taken to the 250-bed Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

On information, police and fire service personnel rushed to the scene, recovered the bodies and sent them to the hospital morgue.

Dr Arif of the hospital’s emergency department confirmed that all three victims were brought in dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station said efforts are underway to identify the deceased. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
