Three killed in road crash in Rajshahi’s Bagha
Three people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi.
The accident took place around 7:30am on the Bagha–Lalpur regional highway near Chandipur Bazar on Monday morning (March 9).
The deceased has been identified as CNG driver Shoriful Islam, 42, of Nawpara village in Lalpur; passenger Bidhan Mistri, 45, of Badhupura village; and Rokeya Begum, 90, of Andi village.
Two others—Shahajan Ali, 35, and Seema Begum, 50—were injured in the accident. They were first taken to Bagha Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
According to witnesses, the CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying five passengers was heading toward Bagha from Lalpur when it collided head-on with a locally made vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
Serajul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bagha Police Station, said, "The bodies have been recovered and the vehicles involved in the accident have been ceased."
"Rokeya Begum’s body was handed over to her family, while the remaining bodies were kept in police custody," he added.
Police said an unnatural death case will be filed in connection with the incident.
