Three killed, seven cows dead in bus-pickup collision in Kishoreganj
Three people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a cattle-laden pickup in Pakundia, Kishoreganj, on Monday afternoon, July 6. Seven cows also died in the accident. The incident occurred around 3:00 pm on the Dhaka-Kishoreganj road in the Sukhiabazar area.
The deceased were identified as Billal Hossain, 35, Abu Saeed, 39, and Abdus Sobhan, 39. They were residents of Kundarpara village in Shibpur upazila, Narsingdi, and were all travelling on the cattle-laden pickup. Among the injured is the bus driver's assistant, whose names could not be immediately confirmed.
According to police and local sources, the bus belonged to Annanya Classic Paribahan, operating on the Dhaka-Kishoreganj route. The bus was heading from Dhaka to Kishoreganj, while the pickup carrying cattle was travelling from Kishoreganj towards Narsingdi. The head-on collision occurred near the BRAC Bank branch in the Sukhiabazar area, leaving the pickup severely damaged. Fire service and police arrived at the scene and rescued the victims.
Pakundia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Arifur Rahman said three people died on the spot in the collision. Several cows were also killed. Legal action will be taken in this regard.
