Three more arrested over RAB officer killing in Jungle Salimpur

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested three more suspects in connection with the killing of it's member in Jungle Salimpur, bringing the total number of arrests to 20.

The newly arrested are Md. Parvez, 35, Md. Belal, 30, and Saidul Islam, 26, all named in the case.

RAB-7 Assistant Director and Assistant Superintendent of Police A R M Mozaffer Hossain said Parvez was detained on Friday from Nabgram in Kabirhat of Noakhali, while Belal and Saidul were arrested in Pahartali and Sher Shah Banglabazar areas of Chattogram city, respectively.

On January 19, a RAB team came under attack during an operation in Jungle Salimpur, resulting in injuries to personnel. Lance Naik Subedar Md. Motaleb Hossain Bhuiya later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Following the incident, RAB-7 filed a case at Sitakunda Police Station naming 29 individuals and 150–200 unknown suspects. So far, 20 people have been detained—13 by RAB and seven by the police.

Jungle Salimpur spans approximately 3,100 acres of hilly, densely populated khas land and has long been under close law enforcement surveillance.
