Three more children die with measles symptoms, death toll rises to 741

Three more children have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from suspected and confirmed measles to 741 since March 15 this year, according to the regular measles situation report published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday, July 6.

The report stated that from 8:00 am on Sunday to 8:00 am on Monday, three children died with measles symptoms. So far, 648 children have died with measles symptoms and 93 children have died from confirmed measles.

According to the health directorate's data, 947 new cases of measles symptoms were identified across the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected measles patients to 1,06,565 since March 15.

During the same period, 159 new confirmed measles cases were detected, bringing the total number of confirmed measles patients to 12,791.

According to the report, 89,734 patients have been hospitalised with measles symptoms since March 15, of whom 86,062 have recovered and been discharged.

The DGHS said no deaths from confirmed measles were recorded in the last 24 hours. Among the three children who died with measles symptoms, one was from Dhaka division, one from Rajshahi division and one from Sylhet division.
