Three more children have died with measles symptoms in Sylhet division, raising the total number of deaths linked to the disease and related complications to 55, according to health authorities.

The information was confirmed in the daily report released on Monday morning (May 25) by the Divisional Health Directorate.

Officials said two of the children died while undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, while another child died at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital.

The deceased were identified as 14-month-old Mohsin, son of Ramzan Ali from Afsernagar in Sunamganj’s Dowarabazar upazila; eight-month-old Mazharul, son of Majed from Pirergaw in Sylhet Sadar; and four-month-old Tania, daughter of Milu Mia from Barokapon in Moulvibazar Sadar.

Health officials also said a total of 270 patients with measles symptoms are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the Sylhet division.

During the last 24 hours, laboratory tests confirmed five new measles cases, while 58 suspected patients were admitted to hospitals for treatment.

The continued rise in infections and deaths has heightened concerns among health authorities, who are urging guardians to ensure timely vaccination and seek immediate medical care for children showing symptoms of fever, rash, cough, or breathing complications.
