Three more die of dengue, 994 hospitalised
The Directorate General of Health Services has informed that three more people have died after being infected with dengue in the last 24 hours in the country. With this, the number of dengue deaths this year has risen to 85. In the same period, 994 new patients have been admitted to hospitals.
This information was given in a dengue-related bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services on Monday (August 24).
The bulletin said that in the last 24 hours, that is from 8am on Sunday to 8am on Monday, 117 people in Barishal division, 107 in Chattogram division, 158 in Dhaka division (outside the city corporations), 97 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 126 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 215 in Khulna division, 71 in Mymensingh division, 76 in Rajshahi division, 23 in Rangpur division and four in Sylhet division have been admitted to hospitals after being infected with dengue.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, so far this year 29,923 people have been admitted to hospitals after being infected with dengue. In the last 24 hours, 862 people have received discharge certificates from hospitals. With this, 27,758 people have returned home after recovery this year.
So far this year 85 people have died of dengue. Of them, 31 have died in August alone. Besides, two died in January, two in February, one in May, 13 in June and 36 in July.
