Three passengers of autorickshaw killed in bus collision in Sreemangal

Three passengers of a CNG-run autorickshaw have been killed in the collision of a bus in Sreemangal of Moulvibazar. This accident occurred in front of Satgaon Highway police station in Lochona area of the upazila around 8:30pm on Tuesday (September 22).

The identity of one of the deceased has been found. He is Joy Singh, 23, son of Amrit Singh of Majdihi area of Bhairabganj Bazar under Sreemangal upazila. Police has not yet been able to identify the identity of the other two.

It is learnt from the eyewitnesses and police sources that a passenger bus of ‘Alam Asia Paribahan’ that left for Mirpur of Dhaka from Sreemangal around 8:30pm hit the CNG-run autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction. Due to this the three passengers of the autorickshaw were seriously injured and they died at the spot itself.

Doctor of the emergency department of Sreemangal Upazila Health Complex Navid Raian Bin Shahid said, ‘The three were brought to the hospital around 9pm. However they had died before being brought to the hospital.’

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Satgaon Highway police station Mamunur Rahman said the bodies of the three have been recovered from the accident site. The identity of one of them has been identified by looking at the national identity card (NID) that was in his pocket. The attempt is continuing to identify the identity of the remaining two.

He further informed that the bodies are currently kept at Sreemangal Upazila Health Complex. The bodies will be handed over to the relatives after finishing the post-mortem and the legal process.
