The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in seven regions of the country, asking river ports in the affected areas to hoist Local Warning Signal No. 1.

According to the latest forecast, Faridpur, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar may experience temporary gusty or squally winds of 45-60 km/h, along with rain or thundershowers.

The weather office also said that until 6:00pm Friday (August 7), most areas of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, as well as many places in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, are likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds.

Moderate to very heavy rainfall is also expected in isolated areas across the country, while day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.

In a separate six-hour forecast issued from 7:00am, the BMD said Dhaka and its adjoining areas may witness partly cloudy to temporarily overcast skies with rain or thundershowers.

Southerly to south-easterly winds are expected to blow at 10-15 km/h in the capital.

At 6:00am, Dhaka recorded a temperature of 25.4 degrees Celsius with 97 percent relative humidity, while 41 millimetres of rainfall was recorded in the city over the previous 24 hours.
