Thunderstorms, gusty winds likely in Dhaka and 16 other districts

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast temporary gusty winds and thundershowers over 17 districts across the country by midday on Tuesday, July 7. River ports in these areas have been asked to hoist warning signal number one.

A weather bulletin issued for the country's inland river ports from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm, signed by meteorologist Md Tariful Newaz Kabir, said temporary gusty or squally winds of 45-60 kilometres per hour, blowing from the south or south-east, may occur over Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet districts. Rain or thundershowers are also likely during this time.

Another forecast valid until 6:00 pm on Tuesday said light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds and lightning may occur in most areas of Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and in many places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions. Moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely in some parts of Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

Day and night temperatures may drop slightly across the country, the met office said.
